MOJO Monday 481

Here is the template for this weeks design. I had hard time figuring out what would I use for the semi-circle on the left edge. I was playing with different shapes, but nothing really worked for me. And I didn't have large enough circle die to do that in one piece.

So I cut out one circle using the Stitched Shapes Framelits. Then I cut it in half and glued them together, to form a large circle. I just positioned the top layers and the burlap ribbon to hide the seam.

The stamp set used is Hey, Chick from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. The colours are: Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Smokey Slate, Basic Grey, Bermuda Bay and Whisper White.

The pattern papers are both from the Occasions Catalogue: Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack (the circle) and Falling in Love Designer Series Paper (Gray with dots).

I coloured the chick with the Watercolour Pencils. The background stamp is from Butterfly Basics stamp set.

Finally back at the MOJO MONDAY challenge!

well... this is actually a challenge from 2 weeks ago, which I never got to post on their blog, but I will post it on my blog anyways.

This was my first design, using Lift Me Up stamp set

The colours are Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Whisper White and So Saffron. I used the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack from the Occasions Catalogue at the bottom of the card and coloured the hot air balloons using the new Watercolour Pencils (which by the way are running low at the Stampin'Up! warehouse.... get them now, or you might have to wait until mid February to get them!!)

I'm not super happy about the colouring of the popped up largest balloon, the paper started to peel apart. Next time I will try using the Shimmery White card stock, I heard that is the best paper after watercolour paper to use with the Watercolour Pencils!

Since the colours on this card were very 'sweet', I wanted to make a more monochromatic version using the same layout.

This one is using the Oh So Succulent stamp set and the colours are Sweet Sugarplum and Whisper White.

The designer series paper is Falling in Love from the Occasions Catalogue. And the image is coloured with Watercolour Pencils. The pot is actually hand drawn, not a stamp! I also curved the sentiment to follow the shape of the stamped image.

I also used three different thinlits/framelits on this: Flourish Thinlits, Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, Stitched Shapes Framelits

Oh So Succulent (Occasions 2017)

I cannot say how happy I am that Stampin'Up! brought back their watercolour pencils!!!

They used to have all kinds of colouring tools: pencils, crayons, chalks... then they all disappeared and we got the alcohol markers (blendabilities), which had some manufacturing issues and they were cancelled. Since then, we were stuck with ink pads, markers and blender pens and aqua painters. 

And although they are nice, I never got the subtle effects with them right.

So YAY for the watercolour pencils!

In this post there are several images that have been coloured with the watercolour pencils. Still need to work these images into cards (the colouring was supposed to be my Christmas holiday crafting, which didn't happen - LOL)

Christmas is DEFINiTELY not quiet time....

Okay, I had ALL the GOOD intentions of doing posts during the Xmas holidays... but you know what happens often with good intentions... LOL

Tom and I spent our holidays in Sudbury, and the week prior I was busy planning the meals and getting all the supplies. And all of a sudden it was here - Christmas!

So I packed a bag of books, magazines and some pre-prepped craft items, that I was SUPPOSED to work on during the holidays, and post pictures in here... guess if I even opened that bag? NOPE!

So here I am, back in Ottawa, unpacking bags and finding all kinds of goodies. Okay, I still need to take pictures of them. There are some technique tricks coming... so keep your eyes open.

But, for now, I have a WONDERFUL card that was inspired by Valerie Moody.

This card was done by using You Lift Me Up and Butterfly Basics stamp sets. The colours are Crumb Cake (ink and card stock), Whisper White (card stock), Early Espresso (ink), Real Red (ink) and Soft Sky (ink).

The top 'rip' was cut using various Leaflets Framelits pieces. I believe in the original version she used the Detailed Floral Thinlints to create the edge. Another great framelit to use in this would be the So Detailed Thinlits from the new occasions catalogue... hmm... where is my wishlist....

The balloons and clouds were cut out using Up & Away thinlits and the balloons were popped up by using dimensionals. I sponged the Soft Sky ink using on top of the 'chicken wire' stamped image (probably should have done it first and layer the stamp on top, as the chicken wire image got smudged a bit).

Dragonfly Dreams sneak peek

I cannot wait to spend more time with this stamp set from the new Occasions 2017 catalogue!

Not that I'm super crazy about dragonflies, but something about this stamp set and the matching framelits just talk to me.

These card were made using two of the current in colours, Peekaboo Peach (card stock) and Dapper Denim (ink), Pool Party ink and Whisper White card stock.

Both of the cards were SO easy and quick to make. The first is just stamps, the second is upgraded by using the matching framelits and Dapper Denim card stock. 

So simple and so elegant!

Mountain Adventure

Okay, this post was supposed to be of either a dragonfly or hot air balloons, but with the cold weather outside, it just didn't feel right - so you are getting a snowy scenery instead :-)

This card is made using Mountain Adventures stamp set (from 2016 Holiday catalogue), Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Soft Sky card stocks, matching inks and silver 1/8" ribbon. The greeting is from Star of Light stamp set. 

I just love how you can make your own designer series paper using the skis and snowboard stamps from this set by using matching card stock and ink - in this case Soft Sky.

I have to say, on a cold day like this, I'd rather be in that cabin (with a roaring fire and a cup of hot chocolate) than in that chair lift :-)

Be Jolly, By Golly - Christmas is around the corner!!!

I cannot believe that Christmas is just 2 weeks away! Last week I was thinking, that 'oh, it's good we still have plenty of time until Xmas'. This weekend I realized, that there is only 3 weeks until Christmas, and I still need to make cookies, gingerbread houses, deck the tree (well, assemble it first) and and and....

Most of my cards are luckily done, and I just finished writing my cards to Finland (23 in total). I have 40 English cards done for the family and friends here, but I need 20 more for Tom's co-workers. Luckily I have 3... I mean 2 weeks to get those done :-)

These 2 cards were done using 'Be Jolly, By Golly' stamp set from the Holiday catalogue.

The first uses also Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper, Dapper Denim Card Stock and ink and Real Red Ink. The card base is Thick Whisper White Card Stock.

The 2nd card is also made using Thick Whisper White Card Stock (I like this card stock if I don't want to do a lot of layers, as it holds well on its own).

The colours on this are Mint Macaron and Watermelon Wonder. I cut the swirly bit out of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using Swirly Scribbles thinlits. The sequins are also from the Holiday catalogue.
