Another awarded My Digital Studio page!!!

I had such a hard time with this project. I wanted to use this kit, but had first hard time finding a picture that works with "be yourself" -theme.

Then I bumped into this picture and thought - well.. that works and decided to work on the "dreamy" style. All the pastels and soft colours but it was getting a bit too "soft" so I had to move the frame of the picture to the background and put a more "square" frame on the picture. I thought that brought a bit more structure to the page and well.. that is what and who I am - "whishywashysofty, but with a bit of an edge" :-)

The other project I did using the downloads from April was this "hometown" project.

Retired Colours My Digital Studio Challenge!

Here is my winning design on "retired colours" design for My Digital Studio challenge last week.

View the announcement and next weeks challenge at My Digital Studio

I have couple of tips, when using multiple states:
1) if you don't know the states well (shapes) and exact borders with other states - Get a map with the state locations and alignments with it's neighbors.

NOTE! Once you add the punch, you cannot see what state it is (as I realized AFTER I had added all punches). Instead add your state A, place it roughly where you want it, then add your state B and align it next to State A (you may want to zoom in your project to see better).

2) do NOT try to enlarge the size before you have aligned the states next to each other as you will not be able to resize them exactly the same individually. Instead, group them together and enlarge them AS A GROUP!!!

Once you have them to the size you want, then ungroup. Also some states may be shaped so that they "overlap" with it's neighbour. You may want to "lock" it to the background while you work on the neighboring state.

Boys will be boys

This was a challenge for MyDigitalStudio.net last week.
I knew right away when the challange was posted what kind of page I would create. My dear husband with his toy :)

The papers are from the kit "World Traveller" (just changed the colours a bit) and the tire marks are done with a chevron stamp - just added several one after the other (had to crop some) and then copied it for the second track

I also worked on the same picture - just did it in different colours, tones (the top photo has been edited on my iPhone)

We actually went to a Classic Car show here in Ottawa yesterday - one guy had a cute sign on his car.

I thought I should make one like that for Tom to put on his window when he parks somewhere else than in our garage :)

Hope you are enjoying the sunny Sunday - I started mine slow (we had a late breakfast - well... I guess it was actually lunch - it was too late for brunch too. Check the time on this picture :)

Then I did our sheets and went to the garden (well... let's be honest - it is a back yard! NO gardening has been done there. I think our grass is more weed than grass!!!

So I was pulling out weeds from the back yard (you name it - we have them - you are more than welcome to get some if you want!!!)
I also blow toached our patio stones (those weeds get there too!!)

Then it just got too hot so had to come back in :)

My Digital Studio - March 2013 Downloads challenge

This got me an honorable mentionning on last weeks challenge "March 2013 Downloads" at www.mydigitalstudio.net. See other winners and this weeks challenge "Boys Will Be Boys" at http://www.mydigitalstudio.net/profiles/blogs/challenge-boys-will-be-boys

I used "This and That" kit for this layout. I used the same page also for Heather's and Kimberly's Facebook challenge at Simply My Digital Studio. This was a challenge to use pictures taken (and edited) with your mobile phone.

Hope you enjoyed this!
Check back next week for my works on the "Freebie" and "Boys Will Be Boys" challenges!!!

My Digital Studio 2 Challenge "Color Combo 3"

The challenge (due by March 8th) was a Color Combo challenge. We were supposed to use "Island Indigo", "Calypso Coral", "Pool Party", "More Mustard" and a retired colour "Crushed Curry".

I also wanted to use a layout I saw in the latest "Scrapbooks etc" magazine (p.70). In the original layout they had used the map of US.

Case challenge - mydigitalstudio.net

So this weeks challenge was to case a project. I have wanted to create this one page from "Creating Vacation Scrapbook Pages" (by Memory Makers) for as long as I have had the book (which was published in 2004) - never had the time/energy/materials to do it - until now - with My Digital Studio!!

Original page by Heidi Schueller / Creating Vacation Scrapbook Pages (Memory Makers)

The base of the page is a map, which you then cover with vellum and cut out openings for the locations you went to see.

The original page was created of a one day visit to Paris - unfortunately most of my pictures from Paris are not in digital format so I needed to do a page with pictures I have.

The most difficult part was to actually choose pictures and the city!

Then I thought - I have done these scrapbook pages and mini albums of most of my travels, but never any from Finland - my home!

Luckily I had these "tourist shots" from Helsinki - thanks to my husband's first visit to Finland couple of years ago :-)

So here is my digital case of the original page

Simply Sent Kit - MDS

I love this new Simply Sent Kit! this page was done with the Digital kit - and uses NOTHING else than that kit!

The kit is travel inspired but works for other events too.

The colours on the kit are so fresh - I just love the pool party and calypso coral together!

I was actually able to use this page for 2 different challenges. The first is the MyDigitalStudio.net challenge "January 2013 Downloads" and the second is "Simply My Digital Studio Challenge"

Valentine's MDS Project

Here is my take on the "Valentine's Project challenge" (www.mydigitalstudio.net)

The background paper is from the "2012 Convention kit" and then the banners are from "Heart's a Flutter/More Amore" and "Fan Fair"

The "tinted" sign is actually from the original picture, just inserted a second picture (cropped it to show the sign) and then recoloured it red to work with the other colours (the original sign was bright green which didn't work with my colour scheme)

And finally - GREAT NEWS!!!
Stampin'Up! is now allowing us to get the FREE MDS2 TRIAL (free My Digital Studio trial for 30 days) downloads on cd-form (so far you had to download it from the internet). I haven't ordered mine yet, but let me know if you'd like the download CD and I'll get you one - the best part of this is that you can give the cd to a friend and they can download the FREE MDS2 TRIAL too!

If you like scrapbooking, but don't have time for it, the My Digital Studio 2 is a perfect tool for that!
It's easy to crop pictures, change colours, add embellishments and share the project in electronic form. If you want them printed - you can have them done either by Stampin'Up! or any other professional printing service - or even print them yourself!

Digital challenges; Chalkboard Art

This is my latest creation with My Digital Studio. I created this both for Simply My Digital Studio "Chalkboard Art" challenge and www.mydigitalstudio.net "Divided Page" challenge. I think it covers both challenges perfectly.

I have been really focusing on the digital design lately - I need to get back to the basics and start creating "old fashioned paper art" too :)

My Digital Studio - December downloads

Franconia Notch

This is my latest My Digital Studio page I created. I love the Woodpress lettering - and it works perfectly with the pictures from our last summer trip to Franconia Notch in New Hamshire.
I loved that place! It was a very hot summer day, but the forest is nice and cool - very refreshing! I wanted to jump into the little streams and pools of water!

My Digital Studio 2, Travel Log page

Visiting Baseball Hall of Fame
One of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE stamp sets was Travel Log and I'm so happy that it's available in digital format so that I can use it with my digital scrapbooking :)

This page uses the pre-made layout from that set - I simply changed some of the colours and added my pictures.

My WINNING desing at My Digital Studio November 2012 Challenge

My 2nd time participating at My Digital Studio challenge and I won!!! Last week I got an honourable mentioning and now I won :-)
I had a busy day and was not in the best of mood when getting home and then I got an email from Stampin’ Up! My Digital Studio Team. I was so happy! I have only used MDS2 from September 2012 and tried to learn different techniques.

I have to credit Heather Summers and Kimberly VanDiepen for starting the Facebook "Simply My Digital Studio Challenge" group. I used their challenge in my design and learned few tricks on the way - by accident.

Simply My Digital Studio Challenge Week 1

My idol in digital scrapbooking has to be Heather Summers. You can find more about her from her blog www.stampwithheather.typepad.com. She has started together with Kimberly Van Diepen a Facebook group "Simply My Digital Studio Challenges" where they will be posting their tutorial videos and also linking projects done with their challenge.

This week the challenge was how to group your photos and use multiple photo boxes to hold one image.

Simply My Digital Studio Challenge - week 1
And this is my take on the challenge. What I discovered (by accident - I have to admit) was that when I changed the 2 pictures into sepia, but then clicked "undo" - it only recoloured the top image. I had to double "undo" to recolour both. So I used this as an "extra" feature on my page - I left the background sepia coloured and the top layer coloured. And I didn't mat the picture on the top - just did a heavy shadow. I thought this looked pretty cool.

The fun part of this was that I re-did one of my fav scrapbook pages. I was SO proud of this page when I created it - and still am - I was a novise scrapbooker when I made the page so I guess that made it even more special and fabulous! I could not locate the original pictures, but the place and the people are same - just a different day :-)

Here, as a comparison, is a picture of the original page (sorry for the poor quality old picture)
