I really like the Petite Petals stamp set and the matching punch. And I really like the new in colours and how they have more "weight" to them than the previous ones.

I don't often decorate envelopes, mainly because I make the cards and send them later and I don't want to store the envelopes with the cards. And when I need to send a card, I usually don't have time to find the matching colours and stamps to decorate the envelope :-)

Some of the flowers are stamped directly on the card and some are stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White card stock and punched out with the matching punch.

I really like the new in colours. I think my favourite so far is the Lost Lagoon. It's more subtle than the Coastal Cabana, so you can use it in the fall and even in the winter time.

The green Mossy Meadow still has to do it's magic with me... I'm not fully convinced with this colour - I guess I haven't had the opportunity to compare it with Always Artichoke - based on the catalogue colours they look very much alike :-)

I love winter, but I think it's time to change the weather pattern - eh?

 

We went to Sudbury (ON) for 4 days to visit Tom's parents and got dumped with 15cm of snow on Sunday. But we did get some sunny weather too, as you can see from these pictures - taken at the Big Nickle

 

So while we wait for the snow to melt (and hope that the forecasts for more snow are not true), I decided to create a card using two of my TOP 10 stamp sets: "Happy Watercolor" and "Petite Petals". I'm not really sure if I truly could narrow my favourite stamp sets into 10, but right NOW these two will surely fit that category :-)

The card base is Blushing Bride and I stamped the Happy Watercolour "blob" with various neutrals:

Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar and Soft Suede. I stamped the image first on a piece of scrap paper and then on card stock. Then I stamped the Petite petals with various different pinks: Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Rose Red, Calypso Coral and Strawberry Slush.

 

Then I thought it needed some bling and I added 3 golden sequins

Now this was one of the stamps sets that I thought that I would pass FOR SURE. After all, there were SO many other really cool stamp sets in the new Occasions Spring Catalogue. But you know what happened next - right??

Of course.... I saw someone (thanks Kim Skinner!!) use the stamp to create her own pattern paper - and I was sold! I just had to get the stamp - and as it comes in a bundle with a matching punch - well... it was a deal I could not pass :-)

So this first card was the one that sold me for the set - I modified it a bit from Kim's original (used different paper behind the bottom banner, used different greeting and didn't use the ruffle ribbon.

The colours are: Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush (all this year's in-colours)

Then I saw a cute card by Lisa Curao, where she had punched out the flowers (not sure if her version had them popped up with dimentionals). So the next card is a case from her card, with popped up flowers.

Then I just had to do a spin off from that with different colours and this time I tried using just regular glue dots, so the flowers are not as raised.

So I'm really happy with the stamp set and the punch. Now I just have to use it more on my own designs and maybe use some other colours (I just love all the new in-colours and the colours from the Retro Fresh family!

But these cards just have such a sweetness to them - and they make me feel, like the summer is just around the corner - oh well... one can always dream (and it's snowing really heavily outside my craft room window....)
