Christmas cards

Oh my, I had this post done a while back, but didn't get to post it. So here is the first batch of Xmas cards.

 The first set of cards uses the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set and Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper - both from the current Stampin'Up! Holiday Catalogue.

In the first card I stamped 3 gingerbread men with Soft Suede, and adhered Real Red Enamel Shapes as their buttons.

The second card has two reindeers stamped with Early Espresso, and I coloured the insides of their antlers with Early Espresso marker (I used the thicker end, and just drew lines to fill the space, you don't have to be super precise with your colouring.


This next card uses the Star of Light stamp set, and the matching framelits set.

I stamped the big star using Versa Mark and White embossing powder on Mint Macaron card stock and did the same with the smaller stars on Dapper Denim card stock, and cut them out using the matching framelits. 

Then cut out the 'dotted star' from the framelit set onto a vellum piece, and the smaller star from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper. I wrapped some Copper Metallic Thread behind the large star, stamped the greeting using Dapper Denim ink on Whisper White card stock and used Dimensionals to pop it  up.

NOTE: When adhering the vellum piece on the Crumb Cake card base, I used Fine Tip Glue Pen and made sure, I used glue in areas that will be covered with the stars or the greeting.

MOJO MONDAY 473, Occasions sneak peek

I attended the Stampin'Up! OnStage event this past Saturday in Ottawa, and we got to play and bring home some of the upcoming new supplies. I was lucky enough to win this 'Beautiful You' stamp set - WHICH I LOVE!! This stamp set will be available to order starting January 4th, 2017.

I decided to use it on this Monday's MOJO challenge. 

The back ground is Crumb Cake layered with Whisper White, which has been stamped with the swirly stamps from Swirly Bird stamp set using Crumb Cake and Sweet Sugarplum inks.

The lady is stamped with Early Espresso (and the layering pieces are also Early Espresso) and the 'swoosh' is from the same 'Beautiful You' stamp set, as the lady and it's stamped with Sweet Sugarplum.

I decided to use the Blushing Bride Glimmer paper for my embellishment. It was cut using the butterfly from the Sunshine Wishes thinlits set. I also used some copper metallic twine behind it, and finalized the design with 3/8" Glitter Ribbon in Sweet Sugarplum (from the current Stampin'Up! Holiday Catalogue)

Fall card galore

What a busy fall it has been! The BOGO event was super well attended. I need to start ordering more stamp sets so that I have some retired stamps to sell next year....

I had my first fall card class last week, and we created some great cards. The next card class will be Halloween cards, and the class is scheduled for October 13th (Thursday after Thanksgiving).

The first card from the fall card class uses the new Totally Trees stamp set. I LOVE THIS SET!!! I have been making so many cards with this set, using different colour combinations.

This card is made on Crushed Curry card stock, and the torn leaves are made with 'faux suede' technique.

The colours used on this one are Mint Macaroon, Crushed Curry and Pool Party.

Faux Suede:

Cut out your shapes, then curl them with bone folder to different directions to loosen the fibres. Be careful, as the pieces get fragile (some of my leaves ripped, but I was still able to use them by tucking the torn part under). Once the paper layers start peeling, you can tear the pieces apart

The next card using the Totally Trees was inspired by Pinterest. The card stock is Bermuda Bay and the inks are Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party & Sweet Sugarplum. I also used the new glitter ribbon in Sweet Sugarplum (the pack has 2 spools, the other spool is silver)

This third card pair is using same stamp set, but again with different colour combinations.

As you can see, the colours make a huge difference!

The one above and below this, can easily be used throughout the year, whereas this pair is definitely made with fall colours. Not that you could not use those colours throughout the year, but for me, they definitely are fall cards.

Now this last card is the same as the first card, but instead of the faux suede leaves, I used the swirls from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. I also used some ink and a brush to make the watercolour effect behind the trees. The colours on the trees are Dapper Denim, Crushed Curry and Pool Party. And I used the new narrower Burlap Ribbon on this one.

What the fox says.... ring-ding-ding-ding-dinga-dinga-ding....

When I first saw the "Life in the Forest" stamp, I thought it to be cute, but not for me. Then I saw couple of cards made with it - and I was sold. There were 2 Stampin'Up! demonstrators, who inspired this card: Nancy Smith, with her question mark (she had an envelope, the mouse from the same stamp set says "Mouse goes Squeek" and THAT was an AHA-moment for me. I knew I had to get this set.

 

The trees and the mushrooms are from the same set. The trees were stamped on a Gumball Green Epic Day Designer Series Paper and the mushrooms were coloured with Real Red marker (stamped on Whisper White).

And then I remembered another product, that would make this perfect - our TALKING TAGs!!! I was not sure if it would work - after all, I was not planning on singing that song myself.

So I loaded it on my iTunes and played it with my computer while recording the sound with my iPhone. Well.. the sound quality is not the best, but works for me :-)

The other demonstrator, Linda Heller, had the best fox - I saw plenty of foxes coloured with markers or blenderpens - but Linda had actually stamped the fox on Tangerine Tango and Whisper white card stocks. Then she cut the full fox out of Tangerine Tango and cut the face mask and the tail from the Whisper White fox and glued those on top of the Tangerine Tango fox. She then coloured the ears with White gel pen. - PERFECT!!!
