First try making a dress for an American Girl doll

Making all those dresses for my niece leaves me with all kinds of little fabric pieces. I thought maybe I could make some doll's clothes from them.

My problem was that I wanted to make a dress for American Girl doll, but I don't have one :)
I researched the sizes online and figured I have one doll I had made 20+years ago so ai used that as my model.

I made this blue dress from 100% linen and added a floral pin, that can be removed and used on an other piece of clothing if so desired.

I gave the dress to my friend Patricia's daughter and she approved it so I guess I did okay :)

In the picture her doll is wearing the dress

Sewing clothes for my little niece

So I have a little 9 month old niece. She is the cutest little thing.
I saw her first at her christening when she was just under 2 months old and then again when she was 4months.

Since then I have only seen her via Skype.
I wanted to make some dresses for he and so far she has received one reversible pinafore dress (see my post from June 4th)

Now I made an other reversible top and matching shorts

And 2 dresses with tie closures on the shoulders

Cannot wait to see her wear these

Sewing baby dress

I wanted to make a reversible dress for my niece, who is 8months old. The difficult part was to find just the perfect fabrics and match them together. The dress itself took only couple of hours
One side is brown with white spots and turquoise accent fabric for the collar and pockets
The other side is orange chevron pattern and without pockets

This is an apron style dress so usually you would wear pants or shorts underneath, and since babies usually have the cute diaper pants, they would be great. The design also allows this dress to be worn as a shirt for toddlers, so assuming the seams and fabric holds, this should be something Little Emmi can wear couple of years. Let's hope she likes it :-)
I mailed it to her last week and hopefully receive some pictures of her wearing the dress soon!

Long silence....

I haven't posted anything for the longest time - and I feel so bad about that!
I have been busy volunteering with our neighbourhood association, organizing spring cleaning, advertising soccer clubs for kids, organizing spring garage sale advertising and promoting membership. Just could not get to my blog after all the other online work

I have done some cards for a baby fair I did a week ago, just have to take pictures of those. I have been doing some sewing though. I did a yoga bolster (thinking I would save some money, but really didn't...)
It was a lot of work planning it and I think I would do it a bit differently next time
I made it extra long so that it supports my back and neck. It is close to 40" long
I tried to use as much natural materials as possible, but some of the core filling is man made.
