Mojo Monday #260

This is my 2nd MojoMonday! I'm already exited that I actually remembered it again... I guess I should put a reminder of this to my calendar, to make sure I'll keep on doing this in the future too :-)

Here is the sketch for this weeks Mojo

As you can see, I actually had 2 different choises for the form. Square would be so typical for me (I'm not a round shape person), but I figured that I'll challenge myself even more by trying to make a round card. I'm actually very boring person :-)
My cards are ALWAYS 4 1/4" x 5½"... I seldom make 3"x3" cards... so this truly is out of my comfort zone.

So here is my MOJO260
I started with Natural Composition Special Designer Series Paper and cut it with the Paper Doily Sizzlits L (just a warning, you might have hard time getting through the paper as it's so thick - you might want to add an extra shim or try a thinner paper. It does not show here, but the background blue is the inside of the card, so the top is partly "see through". On top of the Doily I have 2½" circle and 2 River Rock pieces puched out with Decorative Label punch. Then I used the Clockworks stamp set and the colours are Tangerine Tango, Not Quite Navy and Basic Gray. I finished the project with a large Naturals Designer Button and Hemp Twine

Birthday Card & Halloween stamp-a-Stack

You know that feeling, when you have a Birthday party to go to and you don't have a card - then you either try to make one in a rush or you need to run to a store to get one?

Attend my Birthday Card Stamp-a-Stack event on Saturday October 20th(from 1pm until 5pm and make 10 cards!

I have moved my Birthday Stamp-a-Stack to the same day as my Hallloween event so you can make your Halloween cards at the same event too!

Here are couple of samples I have prepared for the event!

I have pre-cut most parts so if you don't have the time, you can just come and stamp the images and assemble them at home!

Mojo Monday #259

This is my first time participating in "Mojo" events.
Basically it's someone comes up with a sketch/design and others design cards inspired by this sketch.

So I decided to go with mojomonday.blogspot.com and start with their latest sketch #259

And let me tell you... what a difficult time I had with this!

I started with Winter Memories Skate stamp (from the 2012 Holiday Catalogue) and mounted it on Night of Navy cardstock and then on silver glimmer paper. Then tried to add silver snow flakes to do the round shape. But it just wasn't working for me.

I worked 2 hours on Monday evening and nothing I came up with turned out nice - I was getting so frustrated that I just had to drop everything and sleep on it.

So today, after work, I resisted opening my new shipment from Stampin'Up! (this required some major will power!!!) I decided to finish my project. And as you can see, I ditched the whole Winter theme :)

This card uses only Field Flowers -stamp set, Comfort cafe Designer Series Paper, and the following card stocks: Very Vanilla, Summer Starfruit, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede. I used the Labels Collection Framelits to the back ground and punched 3 largest flowers with Boho Blossoms punch and layered them under the Rich Razzleberry button.

New Blog Header - and I made it myself!!

So I finally sat down with the new MDS2 and gave it a try. Let's just say that I had the old MDS and my computer didn't like it - or something went wrong - I was never able to print or share anything I created - little frustrating, I would say.

So I decided to delete the whole thing and install the free trial for the new (and VERY MUCH improved) MDS2. And I have to say I LOVE IT!

I have noticed (and heard) some demonstrators have created their own blog headers, so I figured "I can do that too".... well... I did! (some trial and errors, but I thought I did a pretty good job

I got tons of help from Stephanie Correl's video tutorial

I guess the trickiest part was to get the size correct. First my header was too wide, then too narrow, then too large in size.... but after couple of mistakes, I got it pretty good.

Hope you enjoy it!
