Peachy Keen Stamp Set and the On Film Framelits Dies

There has been so much talk about this set - and how the camera die does not match with the stamped image. Now even I didn't know that there are actually both thinlits AND framelits in this set - and that you can INK your thinlits!!!!
oh the world of opportunities with this
So here is a video created by Stampin'Up! on how to get the most usage out of this stamp set and the thinlit/framelit set

Texture Boutique Embossing Machine video

Here is a video on how to operate the new Texture Boutique Embossing Machine

Sale-A-Bration is here!!!! Sale-A-Bration is here!!!

Okay, did I mention, that it is time for
SALE-A-BRATION!!!!

click on the sale-a-bration image on the right navigation bar of my blog to view the brochure!

What exactly does it mean - you may ask....

well, this is THE best time to shop with Stampin'Up! For every 60 dollars you spent (before shipping and tax) you get one item free from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue - and let me tell you, this year the selection is great!

I just love the Banner Blast stamp set and the matching punch - banners are SUCH a big thing this year - it's banners everywhere!!!

Another favourite of mine is the Decorative Dots embossing folder.

Then there is the cutest Designer Series Paper "Sweet Sorbet" and the great banner pack "Heartfelt" - which you can customize for a birthday banner or just your everyday banner and dress it up with cute pictures, kids drawings... you name it!

SOMETHING NEW FROM STAMPIN'UP!!!

How about the news about the new Texture Boutique Embossing Machine that Stampin'Up! is now carrying!!!!

Some of you may remember, that they did a little test run about a year ago with this machine. It run out IMMEDIATELY!

Let me just remind you, that it is not replacing the BigShot - it is a simpler tool, just for embossing, but it allowes you to add some texture to your projects without breaking the bank. Just remember, it is not strong enough to use on any of the cutting elements, not for framelits or dies!

The great thing about this is that it is more affordable, it takes less space on your table and because of this, it is also easy to take with you!

And don't forget to check out this weeks "weekly deals" from the Stampin'Up! web-site / store!

Sweet Valentine's

I just love both of the following cards.

The first one is using Follow My Heart stamp set - now remember, the clear mount version has already sold out, but you can still get the wood mount. These Valentine's Day special stamp sets are only available while they last so get them while you still can. Also, the last day to order is Monday January 27th!
Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake

Scallope edged heart frame:
I first cut out a scalloped heart with the Hearts-a-flutter framelit from a scrap piece of paper, which I then placed on top of my card stock to use it as a stencil. Then I used the large heart punch to punch out a regular heart from scrap piece of paper and added that at to the middle. Then I spongd the formed "frame" with blushing bride and a bit of Crumb cake.

Then I removed the heart punch shape and stamped the opening with "off the grid" stamp (crumb cake).

Background:
Then I inked a clear acrylic block with blushing bride and stamped that on the card base. And did the same with crumb cake (that one I first stamped on a piece of scrap paper and then on the card stock - I didn't want it too strong.

Then I took a small heart stamp from last years occasions catalogue set "itty bitties" - I didn't even realize I used a retired stamp - oh bummer... well, any small heart stamp would work, and stamped that with both colours.

Then I stamped the greeting from the "Follow My Heart" set with Crumb Cake.

The Banner:
The stamps are from two different sets. The one with the key, stamped with Blushing Bride, is from the "Follow My Heart" and the "love" banner stamped with Crumb Cake is from the Sale-A-Bration set "Banner Blast"
Behind the banner I glued a piece of Hemp Twine. The Eiffel Tower is stamped with Early Espresso (it's from the Follow My Heart Set" and I cut it out with paper snips and mounted with dimensionals.

This next card is SUPER easy!

Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe, Whisper White
The Backgound:
The base of the card is regular Pool Party card stock. I embossed a slightly smaller piece of Pool Party coloured Core'dinations paper with the Alphabet Press embossing folder and sanded the top to bring out the lighter tone of the paper.

Embellishments:
I cut one Paper Doiley in half, glued it on top of the embossed core'dinations paper and wrapped some Hemp Twine around the card - tied a double know on the top (to the left side). Then I cut 2 paper banners from the Sale-A-Brations paper "Sweet Sorbet" and adhered them on top of the doiley (tucked them under the twine. Then I took a piece of the Natural 5/8" Chevron Ribbon (Occasions Catalogue) and folded it in half. Then I tied it on top of the card with the left over twine used to wrap around the card.

The Sentiment is from the "Label Love" set, the edge is couloured with Crisp Cantaloupe and the center centiment is with Crumb Cake (you cannot see the difference in the photo as well as in the real card) and mounted with dimensionals.

Happy Watercolour - and something new coming from Stampin'Up!

Coastal Cabana, Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake
Here are couple of cards using the new Happy Watercolour stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue.
This set was on my wish list from the beginning, but I was a bit hesitant with it so I didn't include it in my preorder in December. Then I just had so many regrets that I had to order it - got it this past Friday and these are the 2 cards I have done with them so far.

I like how with this set you don't have to colour the flower, you just stamp that smuched watercolour image at the back!

Crushed Curry, Pool Party, Smoky Slate
The Second card has a vellum background and you know what happens to vellum when you emboss it? It turns white! so it gives you additional colour and texture at the same time!

I also used the new Scalloped Tag Topper Punch on this card. I just love those new tag topper punches! What's so great is that you can make your tags as long as you want them. Unfortunately it does limit the width of the tag to 2", but that is generally wide enough for most usage!

And then the news about the new product coming this spring!!!!

Blendabilities – Alcohol based blending markers

These markers will come in sets of 3 – with different shades (light, medium, dark) of the same color that will blend together to allow you to create gorgeously smooth colored images. The US price for the set of 3 is $11.95 (so the canadian will be a bit higher), and since they are not refillable (at this time), they are priced lower than other alcohol markers (like Copic)

There is also a Skin Tone Assortment set of six Blendabilities for $22.95 (US). Other new products will include a Memento Ink Pad, which you need to use with these alcohol markers, for $5.95 (US) and a refill for $4.95 (US). There is also a Blendabilities Color Lifter - a "magic eraser" - for $4.95 (US).

If you like Copic markers but don’t like the price, you will love these. Alcohol markers that blend beautifully and even a marker that removes color if you make a mistake. The chart shows the 12 color groups that will come in sets of 3. They will not replace our regular markers – the alcohol markers dry too fast to use on your stamps or to use aquapainters with. Think of these as another color tool to add to your tool box. They are square and won’t roll off your table, bullet tip on one end, brush tip on the other. They recommend using the Memento Tuxedo Black pad and NOT using StazOn, which is an alcohol based pad.

Petite Petals - what a great little stamp set!!!

Now this was one of the stamps sets that I thought that I would pass FOR SURE. After all, there were SO many other really cool stamp sets in the new Occasions Spring Catalogue. But you know what happened next - right??

Of course.... I saw someone (thanks Kim Skinner!!) use the stamp to create her own pattern paper - and I was sold! I just had to get the stamp - and as it comes in a bundle with a matching punch - well... it was a deal I could not pass :-)

So this first card was the one that sold me for the set - I modified it a bit from Kim's original (used different paper behind the bottom banner, used different greeting and didn't use the ruffle ribbon.

The colours are: Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush (all this year's in-colours)

Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Tangerine Tango, So Saffron
all colours from the Retro Fresh family (Occasions)
Then I saw a cute card by Lisa Curao, where she had punched out the flowers (not sure if her version had them popped up with dimentionals). So the next card is a case from her card, with popped up flowers.

Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana,
Pistashio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe
Then I just had to do a spin off from that with different colours and this time I tried using just regular glue dots, so the flowers are not as raised.

So I'm really happy with the stamp set and the punch. Now I just have to use it more on my own designs and maybe use some other colours (I just love all the new in-colours and the colours from the Retro Fresh family!

But these cards just have such a sweetness to them - and they make me feel, like the summer is just around the corner - oh well... one can always dream (and it's snowing really heavily outside my craft room window....)

So, will this set be in your wish list now too?

Burlap Flowers

Okay, I know this has nothing to do with stamping or card making, but I was so excited that I finally got some burlap flowers done.

I wanted to try different techniques.

My favourite, and I guess the one that required most work, was the bottom right one. It's actually not as difficult to do as it looks.

The top left flower is done with this instruction

The top right and bottom left are just done by twisting the burlap and rolling it on a spiral. The top right one was done with hot glue gun, adding drops of hot glue while building the flower. The bottom left one was actually done on a jumbo sticky round.

New Year, new products - how much fun is that??!!!

It's been a while since I last posted here.
I was away for the holidays and once we got back (just before New Year's), I got sick - not just your average cold - but really a long lasting and nasty cold.

It just keeps going on and on. Some days I feel a bit better thinking - great, now I'm over it and then we take 2 steps back.

Last weekend I got this Heartfelt banner (from the up coming Sale-A-Bration catalogue) done, but didn't have the energy to hang it or choose pictures for it.

Today, suffering from a nasty cough (which does not allow me to speak), in between steam inhaling sessions, I was sitting on the couch and went through some pictures from our summer trip. And managed to hang it in our entry way - jeee!!!

The kit includes:
  • 9 die-cut canvas banners
  • 7 mini wooden clothespins
  • 2 pieces of Natural Linen Thread
  • 1 needle (for threading)
  • 6 die-cut paper banners
  • 5 doilies
  • 9 felt balls
I followed the kit sample pretty much to the tee - didn't have any energy to go outside of the box. I did stamp some hearts and stars on some of the banners (from Perfect Pennants stamp set) and some splatters and stripes from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, but they are very subtle. I threaded the felt balls on a separate thread - I think it might make the banner too heavy if you would thread them in between the canvas/paper pieces.
