Around the World - with coffee!

So we are back with our coffee theme!

The card stock is Calypso Coral and Whisper White. I stamped Off the Grid image several times with Smoky slate and then added some This and That Epic Day washi tape.
Below the "Filmstrip" stamp is 2 images from "tape it" stamped in Soft Sky and Smoky Slate. Then it has a small piece of the Crumb Cake coloured washi tape from Epic Day set.
The date is stamped with Rotary Stamp (This and That Epic Day) in Calypso Coral

The Filmstrip is stamped with Black StazOn ink and the images in the strip are from the Wanderlust Photopolymer set - I can so see myself using this set during my summer vacation!!!

The colours used here are Smoky Slate, Calypso Coral and Soft Sky

Okay - I had a close up of the coffee cup, but for some reason both in this and the previous card, my coffee cups are saved upright on my computer, but they come lying down in this blog... go figure... I guess the cups are empty???

Well, the cup is stamped with Early Espresso and coloured with Crumb Cake. The "wrap" around the cup was coloured first with Crumb Cake ink and blender pen and then stamped with the greeting in Calypso Coral.

hmm... if it wouldn't already be past 10pm, I would certainly get a cup of coffee....
Well, I guess I have to wait until the morning :)

Hope you enjoyed this card - And expect to see more coffee and film strips in the cards... I just love them

Coffee Rules the World

well.. atleast in my cards, they take over :-)

Todays card is trying out all new things and colours.
The base and the scored card stocks are "Coastal Cabana" - which is one of the new in-colours for the next 2 years. Then I had to use some washi tape from "This and That Epic Day" and the new Smoky Slate chevron ribbon. The background stamp "Off the Grid" is stamped several times (without Stamp-a-Majic!!) with Smoky Slate.

The background behind the coffee cup is scored with Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

The coffee cup is from the "perfect blend" set. I stamped it with Early Espresso and then took my Crumb Cake ink pad and a blender pen and started adding some shadows on the cup.

"Given enough coffee, I could rule the world, temporarily"

Happy Bday, brother!

So yesterday was mid-summer eve - a big celebration in Finland. People stay up all night, burn bonfires and have fun. And everybody is at their summercottages - the cities are very quiet and empty.

Yesterday was also my brother's birthday. And you would think that I, with all the card making and crafting could get a card done and sent on time - well... that didn't happen - dispite of all the good intentions.

So I made him a digital b-day card (and didn't even get that to him on time....)

Oh well...

I hope he had a great mid-summer and birthday party even without my card or present :)

Happy Birthday Aki!

Busy week - included kissing :)

well.. the stampin kind of kissing that is!

On Sunday I did a small class on embossing and kissing - the idea was to show various kind of embossing techniques and I tossed in a kissing technique too.

So first the embossing part:

This card has dry embossing, done with Big Shot and Woodgrain Embossing folder on Early Espresso Core'dinations paper (this paper has a lighter tone in the core of the cardstock so when you tear it, it shows the tears better and if you emboss and sand it lightly, you really get the embossing showing nicely.

The bird stamp is from the new hostess set "Simply Sketched" and works perfectly for embossing. Now this is done with heat tool. First we stamped the image with Versamark ink, then poured Early Espresso Embossing Powder on the moist image and then heated it with the Heat tool.
This one I coloured directly with Pear Pizzazz marker (since it's such a pale colour). Any darker colour you might want to colour with Aqua Painter and Ink or Blender Pens and ink pads

Then we added kind of embossing around the image - this was done with Paper Piercing tool and Paper Piercing templates.

The second card was the kissing technique:

On the Birthday Card I stamped a Clear Block (D) on Early Espresso ink pad and stamped that on the Whisper White Card Stock. After cleaning the block (you will need paper with this, the Stampin'Scrub will not clean your block enough as it is not a "smooth" surface) I stamped the block on Calypso Coral ink pad and then KISSED it on the En Fraincais background stamp (now here you have to be sturdy handed as you don't want the ink to smuch around the stamp). Then once you have the ink trasferred from the clear block onto the stamp, you stamp the image on the card stock.
The Mr&Mrs card was done using the same technique, but it does not have the Early Espresso background (and I lined it without stamp-a-majic too!!)

The ribbon is the new Chevron ribbon in Calypso Coral and the card bases are Sahara Sand (Bday) and Pink Pirouette (Mr&Mrs). The sentiment is stamped on Blushing Bride with Calypso Coral.

oh and sorry for the super long delay in posting - my colleague at work is on vacation and by the time I get home I'm wiped and really haven't had any energy to even take pictures of my latest projects. I promise I will make it up during the weekend.

Now I got to run... my fav TV show, "the Listener" is starting and I already missed last weeks episode (season 4 beginning). Got to support the Canadian TV series and I love that it has mostly been filmed in Toronto.
(You can catch it on CTV on Wednesdays at 10pm)

Coffee anyone? I have the perfect blend

..... stamp set - that is!

When I first saw this in the new catalogue - I JUST HAD TO HAVE IT!!!

#130745 Wood (16.95CAD), #131392 Clear (13.95CAD)
the set has 3 stamps, 2 greetings and the coffee mug
Some of you may know our little weekly escape... we have a date night at Starbucks and then check out the selection at the Chapters (yes - you might call us book worms)

This was my VERY first creation with this set. I was inspired (well almost cased the whole thing) by Justin Kriegers card. He is one of those Stampin'Up! demonstrators that I follow - he has such a unique style.

He used the "off the grid" stamp set as the background - well I don't have that yet so I used a grid paper from "Soho Subway Designer Series Paper". Behind the mug there is a piece of "Gumball Green" cardstock that has been embossed with the new "Alphabet Press Embossing folder" (#130916, 9.95 cad)

Photopolymer stamps - these are so cool!

WONDERLUST
http://www.stampinup.com/ca/documents/Flyer_photopolymer_June0113_CA.pdf

Stampin'Up! has this spring brought us 4 - well actually 5 - great new stampsets - all in photopolymer (ie. clear acrylic) stamps. They cling to the clear blocks super well and are easy to align, even without Stamp-a-majic!

I especially love the latest set "Wonderlust"(picture above) - I can see myself using it with this summers travel scrapbooking!

All the brochures for the sets can be found on the link below the picture. Enjoy!
